Cameras
Tested hardware, what works on it, and how to tell which camera you have.
Anyka AK3918 cameras are sold under many brands (V380, E27 bulb cameras, cheap "smart" PTZ domes). What matters is the SoC variant, the Wi-Fi chip and the sensor, not the label on the box.
Support levels
| Level | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Tested | Run on real hardware by the maintainers; the feature matrix below is from that unit. |
| Expected | Same SoC and board family as a tested camera; should work, not verified. |
| Untested | Builds for it, nobody has run it. |
AK3918AV100 — EVB_CBDM_KM01N · Tested
The primary target. A PTZ indoor camera with Gwell firmware 38.2.72.
| SoC | Anyka AK3918AV100-C, ARM926EJ-S @ 888 MHz (ARMv5TE, soft-float) |
| RAM | 64 MB DDR2 (≈ 32 MB usable after ISP/encoder reservations) |
| Flash | 8 MB SPI NOR (XMC XM25QH64C) |
| Firmware | U-Boot 2019.10, Linux 4.4.282, Buildroot 2018.02, uClibc-ng 1.0.31 |
| Wi-Fi | SSV6x5x on USB (8065:6011), power switch on GPIO 98 |
| Sensor | SmartSens SC2331 (an SC1346 board variant also exists) |
| Ethernet | JL1101 PHY |
| Extras | PTZ steppers, IR-cut filter, IR + white LEDs, red/blue LED, speaker. No RTC. |
| Feature | Status |
|---|---|
| Boot from SD card | ✅ with the autostart patch, or by hand |
| Vendor app never runs | ✅ verified after reboot |
| Watchdog | ✅ hours of uptime, no resets |
| Wi-Fi + recovery ladder | ✅ renew → restart → driver reset → USB power cycle, verified with an injected fault |
| SSH | ✅ |
| Web admin UI | ✅ login, services, Wi-Fi, PTZ API, reboot |
| ONVIF device/media/imaging | ✅ tested with onvif-zeep |
| IR-cut, IR, white, red/blue lights | ✅ |
| PTZ | ⚠️ driver opens and reads position; motion not yet verified |
| RTSP | ⚠️ protocol verified with ffmpeg, but streams a test clip |
| Live video / snapshots | ❌ not yet — needs the V8 encoder path |
| Audio in/out | ❌ the bundled SDK does not match this firmware |
Why no live video yet
The vendor SDK this project started from (EV200, V3.1) does not match the AV100's firmware (SDK V8, V4L2 ISP subdevices). Live video needs the V8 ISP and encoder path, which is the next milestone.
AK3918EV200 (AK3918EN080 v200) · Untested with Kamoder
The camera the original
SD-card hack was
built on, with a Realtek RTL8188FTV Wi-Fi chip, 8 MB SPI flash, Linux 3.4.35 and
a GC1034, GC1054, GC1084, H62 or H63 sensor. Its stock firmware runs
Factory/config.sh from the card by itself, so no flash patch is needed.
Kamoder links against that camera's SDK, so it builds for it, but nobody has run the current stack on an EV200 yet. Reports are welcome. Until then, Gerge's project is the proven option for these cameras.
Identify your camera
From a root shell (UART or telnet):
cat /proc/cpuinfo | grep -i -E 'hardware|model' # ARM926EJ-S
uname -r # 4.4.x = AV100, 3.4.x = EV200
cat /proc/mtd # AV100: UBOOT ... APP ROM FLASH
lsusb 2>/dev/null || cat /sys/bus/usb/devices/*/idVendor
ls /ipc/setup.sh 2>/dev/null && echo "AV100 layout"A Wi-Fi radio at 8065:6011 and an APP partition on mtd6 mean you have the
tested AV100 layout.
Report a camera
Open an issue with the output of the commands above, the brand and model on the label, and which features worked. Please include the UART boot log if you have one.
